ABOUT

On 23rd December 2001, Ryan Baker-Barnes packed his life into a suitcase and with guitar in hand, left sunny Zimbabwe, Africa behind him and caught a plane bound for England. Ryan was offered an Internship with the Saltmine Trust, a Christian creative arts charity, and after touring the UK with their Theatre Company as a Sound and Light Engineer, he got involved with Revival Fires church in Dudley, assisting in all areas sound, worship, graphics and web related. It was here he had the opportunity to develop and hone his music; crafting songs from different seasons in life and for different conferences and events, while having the privilege of working with different musicians and teams.

Ryan’s lyrics deliver messages of intimacy and desperation, always motivated to capture something of the reality of the presence of Christ, and hope for his generation to respond to God with a whole heart. Ryan’s characteristic sound is one of fervor, fusing together driving acoustic melodies and rich vocals. His music ranges from intimate love songs to lively pop, to rousing anthems.

Ryan now serves as the Worship Pastor at Revival Fires, where he has led worship alongside Brian Johnson, Kim Walker-Smith, Kevin Prosch, Michael Larson, Chris Quilala and Anthony Skinner among others. He lives in South Staffordshire with his wife Anna and their two children, Bethany and Benjamin.

Having spent most of 2008 leading worship in a move of God known as the ‘Dudley Outpouring’, which drew people night after night, from around the world, hungry to see God’s power, Ryan worked with the Revival Fires team to record the album ‘Live Worship from the Dudley Outpouring’. Recorded and produced by Paul Burton live at the FireStorm Gathering at Revival Fires which was also aired live by GOD TV. This season of challenge and collaboration was key to his growth as a worshipper, a father, a musician and a leader.

Eager to challenge his own sonic boundaries and capture the journey he had been on, Ryan worked with producer Julian Kindred for his debut solo release, entitled 'The Deepest Part'. Recorded and produced by Julian at his Non Such Park Studios in Surrey, England, the project features musicians Joe Clegg, Dan Wheeler, James Gregory and Micah Wilshire. The resulting 10-track project is marked by the presence of God; a spirit of passion, innovation and adoration, while not being limited to the musical scope of a live performance.

You can find Ryan either leading worship or on team at weekly meetings at Revival Fires church. Serving locally is a role he holds in high regard: building real relationship both with a musical team and with a body of people earnestly after God is a valuable way of keeping sharp and staying relevant. He is also involved in leading worship at various conferences and events around England, and encouraging budding musician, songwriters and performers to seek, find and know the Glory of God.
